Overall the book is an amazing read and can be a source of inspiration for its readers not only those who belong to their community but even beyond that.

I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend everyone to give it a read. You will thank me later.

Here are 5 valuable lessons from the book

  1. You cannot find the right circumstances to live life: A storm on the outside must be met with composure on the inside. Circumstances in life will always be difficult. You cannot find the right circumstances to live life, Rather, you must steady and strengthen yourself to face whatever comes your way.

  2. One can source an infinite amount of strength and stability: Loving the Divine through self is the only way to gain the endless capacity to truly love others. In Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna instructs Arjun that not only is the self the common essence in all of creation, but that by realizing its true form, one can source an infinite amount of strength and stability.

  3. Be known, but do not want to be known: Life is a balance. Submit to God and guru, assist those around you, but have an identity of your own, It is important to achieve, excel and grow, while not expecting to be praised and celebrated for it. Be known, but do not want to be known.

  4. If one has ego and attachment, there is no end to suffering: Put in all your effort, and then leave the end result to God. If he chooses not to give success, we should embrace that as well. When one believes, “I am doing this”, and the task is not completed successfully, one feels depressed. If one has ego and attachment, there is no end to suffering.

  5. Choosing to serve and submit is the surest way to get one step closer to the Divine: Today is all about empowerment, convenience, personal achievement, and self-worth. Yesterday was about following and servitude. Choosing to serve and submit over leading and claiming credit is difficult, but it is the surest way to get one step closer to the Divine.
