📕 Book Summary

This week's book is "100 Harsh Truths of Life" by Library MIndset

100 Harsh Truths of Life by my friend Library Mindset is a fantastic collection of Harsh, powerful, and thought-provoking truths of life. The book is easy to read and well organized, with Hard-Hitting yet Honest truths of life shared by some of the most famous personalities.

Each page has a thought-provoking and insightful truth that can leave an impact on your mind. I found myself highlighting many of them as I read the book.

One of the truths from the book that left me thinking is from Miguel De Cervantes, "He who loses wealth loses much; He who loses a friend loses more; but he that loses his courage loses all." This truth spoke to me about perseverance and reminded me of the importance of taking action.

Overall, "100 Harsh Truths of Life" is a great addition to any personal library. It's not only an excellent resource for finding inspiration and motivation, but it's also an enjoyable read. Whether you're looking to boost your confidence, find inspiration, or gain a new perspective, this book has something for everyone. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some inspiration in life.

Check out Some amazing highlights from the book.

Here are 10 powerful Truths from the book

  1. Time is real wealth- "20 Years from now, you’d give anything to be:

This exact age, this healthy, back in this exact moment. Take a second to enjoy it now.” -Rich Webster

  2. Dream life is out of comfort zone- “Easy choices lead to a hard life. Hard choices lead to an easy life. Haed actions, hard decisions, hard conversations.

Your dream life is on the other side of discomfort.” -Zack Pogrob

  3. The Reason for Failure- “The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment.” -Napoleon Bonaparte

  4. Distance yourself- Distance yourself from the people that you don’t want to become.” -Shane Parish

  5. Limit wishful desiring- Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for”-Epicurus

  6. The Wise Man- “From the errors of the others, a wise man corrects his own.”-Publilius Syrus

  7. The Three Methods- “By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”-Confucius

  8. The Purpose of Hardships- “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.”-C.S Lewis

  9. The Real Friends- “Most of your friends aren’t really your friends, They’re just along for the ride whether it’s fun, convenient, or valuable. Your real friends are the ones who are there for you when it’s none of those-when you have nothing to offering return.”-Sahil Bloom

  10. Are you lost or not- “He who learns but does not think is lost! He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.”- Confucius

Actionable Advice:

Here are 3 Actions you can start taking from these insights:

  1. Value your Time: One of the most precious things you possess is your time. Once gone it cannot be bought back, Don’t spend it on those things that won’t add value to your life. Use it wisely to become the person you always dreamed to become.

If you are in your 20s, then you’re a time billionaire. You have plenty of time. but the problem is you are not going to get it back once you wasted it.

Your wealth (your time) will keep on decreasing over the years. Use it wisely to add valuable to your life as well as to society.

  2. Limit your desires: Stop looking for materialistic things in the hope that they will bring happiness to your life. Your happiness depends on your thoughts, and your state of mind, not because of the Rolex you desire to wear.

No doubt we all desire to have that expensive iPhone, that Two seater car. Even I do, but the point is to not base our happiness on those things, Don’t think that you won’t become happy unless you get those things.

  3. Build yourself: Your life will start to become the way you want it, once you start taking action. Once you start building yourself, learning about your weakness, es and improving your strengths. Once you get out of your cozy comfort zone and enter into the real world where your fight is with your previous self, with your lazy self.

You’ll understand that only you can change your life and to make it happen you have to take command of your life and take the necessary actions.

Build yourself because no one is going to do it for you.

YOU NEED TO, AND YOU HAVE TO.
